The Idea behind Britain’s Biggest Breastfeeding Cafe

At Medela, we are passionate about supporting all breastfeeding mums, whether they are exclusively breastfeeding, expressing or a combination of both. Our weekly drop-in-clinic, monthly Pregnancy Hour and Breastfeeding Cafe are always busy with mums visiting our Facebook page to ask our lovely in-house Lactation Consultant, Sioned their questions. This has undoubtedly become an invaluable resource for mums but something we have noticed more and more, especially over the last year is just how helpful mum to mum support can be. In fact, it seems that the old saying ‘Mum Knows Best’ couldn’t be truer when it comes to breastfeeding!

Every week we encounter mums asking questions not only for our expert but for other mums to share their own tips and advice based on their own experiences. We commissioned a survey last year to better understand how mums are getting support, the results revealed some  an overwhelming support for support groups with 59% of mums attend a Breastfeeding Support Group. Alongside this, an overwhelming 76% of mums commented that they believed talking with other mums at their support groups helped to reassure and support their feeding journey. It seems that chatting with other breastfeeding mums is invaluable and is incredibly helpful when it comes to breastfeeding and expressing.

With this in mind, on Wednesday 18th May we would like to help bring mums across the UK together to chat all things breastfeeding, support each other, share experiences and most importantly have fun. So don't forget to join us for Britain's Biggest Breastfeeding Cafe!
