The breast support from the word go!
Unsurprisingly the majority of mums start thinking about their feeding options before their baby is even born*, there’s a lot to consider, and it’s not always easy to know where to look for advice or information. Here at Medela we are proud that our products are found in 94% of UK hospitals – for many of you it is known as the "yellow pump".
Although we are often known for our award-winning breastpumps, that’s not all we offer. We provide all kinds of specialist products designed to help mums who want to breastfeed, to do so for as long as you wish. We are also lucky to have Sioned Hilton, who many of you may have met over at our Facebook page who is on hand to offer impartial, trustworthy advice.
Relief in the early stages
Some mums may experience sore or tender nipples when they begin breastfeeding. It’s certainly not the most glamorous of products, but our Hydrogel Pads are incredibly soothing and provide relief when mum needs it most. The gel pads slip into any bra have a cooling effect.
Getting to grips with feeding
For some breastfeeding comes completely naturally, and for others it takes a little more practice. Medela’s nipple shields and formers are ideal for mums experiencing problems with their latch. The shields help baby latch whilst still offering maximum skin contact. The nipple formers are life savers for mums with inverted nipples, or who are really struggling with their latch.
Three weeks and beyond
Once mums have mastered breastfeeding, they may want to start expressing milk so a partner can help out with feeds. Our award-winning collection of breastpumps offers something for everyone, from the mum who wants to express a few times a day to the one who only wants to do so once a month. All our 2-Phase breastpumps come with a free Calma Feeding Device so it’s really easy to feed expressed milk!
Clean, clean, sterilise
One of the benefits of breastfeeding is that you don’t need to sterilise bottles on repeat. However, mums expressing will still need to sterilise breastpump parts, and the occasional bottle if their partner is going to feed baby. The Quick Clean Microwave Bags provide the perfect solution. In just three minutes the bags kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria. All parents need to add is drinking water. Each bag can be used up to twenty times. They really are cost-effective, time saving and very practical!
Storing your milk
For mums that do get to grips with expressing, our Medela Pump & Save Breastmilk Bags are ideal for storing all that precious milk. The pre-sterilised bags attach straight to the breastpump, and are then sealed for freshness. Mums can simply pop them into the fridge (for 3 to 5 days) or freezer (up to 6 months). Giovanna Fletcher recently shared a photograph of her own fridge full of Medela Pump& Save bags, so you’ll be in good company!
