Highlights from 2018’s Big Breastfeeding Café - support for breastfeeding mothers continues in 2019!
Last year’s Big Breastfeeding Café was a roaring success with nearly 1,000 mums taking part all over the country. The event offers vital support for breastfeeding mothers across the UK - we are so excited for its return on the 1st May 2019! We want to take a look back at the huge success of 2018’s event and share some of the many highlights from our Medela mums!
2018 saw Medela’s most successful Big Breastfeeding Café yet, with fantastic engagement from parents all over the country, chatting all things breastfeeding and sharing breastfeeding advice over a cuppa and a cake! Nearly 1,000 women came together to share the celebration for breastfeeding mothers.
Here are some of our highlights from 2018…
Medela held a Big Breastfeeding Café at Huggle Stores in London, inviting families to celebrate with us! Some fantastic conversation took place, discussing all the ups and downs of motherhood, it was great to meet so many passionate breastfeeding women!
Jess from Bicester held a fantastic café for her local community, it was great to hear from Jess to hear about her experiences being a café host and why she decided to take part:
“The reason behind hosting a Big Breastfeeding Café was to get some of my mummy friends together to talk about feeding and the struggles we have had with it, as well as the joys of course!”
Jess explained how she felt the Big Breastfeeding Café was a great way to encourage fellow mums to breastfeed in public.
“It’s such a lovely excuse to get mums together for tea and cake (not that we need an excuse!) and just have a good old chat and feel comfortable breastfeeding in public. It felt lovely to know that all around the UK there were lots of mummies having the same conversation as us and enjoying their time together.”
Jess was even interviewed on a local television channel to talk about her café and breastfeeding journey - Go Jess!
The wonderful women from Saint Columb ran their own café and had a wonderful time sharing their stories. Becca, who attended the Saint Columb event, said “We had a wonderful time and it’s inspired us to run a breastfeeding café every month, the tea went down a treat and all the mums enjoyed some delicious cakes”
Emily Young, who ran a café in Shropshire, said “We had a really brilliant time yesterday! We ended up with nearly 20 mums and grandmothers and there was so much positive feedback that it has encouraged me to start up a regular support group!”
It’s great to hear that The Big Breastfeeding Café has inspired so many mums to regularly connect and share their breastfeeding journey’s together.
