International Women’s Day | Inspiring Ladies & Celebrity Mums Celebrate Their Breastfeeding Journey

With the 8th March being International Women’s Day, we wanted to celebrate by sharing stories of inspiring ladies, both well-known celebrities and other awesome mamas who have shared the story of their breastfeeding journey.

This Sunday is International Women’s Day, which is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of inspiring ladies. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

We wanted to share some famous ladies who have spoken openly about their journey with breastfeeding, and whom we think are pretty awesome!

Amy Schumer

Amy shared this photo on her Instagram after the birth of her son Gene in May 2019. We love that she shared this no holds barred pic to her 9.6 million followers, and she’s truly celebrating what her body can do. So fab to see that the Medela Symphony breastpump has been of use in her expressing journey too!

Rachel McAdams

Who can forget this absolutely iconic picture which appeared on the cover of Girls Girls Girls magazine back in December 2018? The actress looked amazing dripping in diamonds while pumping for her newborn son. We appreciate that not everyone may look this glam whilst pumping (pyjamas on and tea in hand anyone?!) but for this image to appear on a magazine cover read by millions, sharing a behind the scenes look at how motherhood fits into this A-listers life, is very cool!

Kourtney Kardashian

Celeb mum of three Kourtney Kardashian is certainly no stranger to sharing her life on social media, so we love that she shared this photo of her pumping with her double electric pump. This mama isn’t afraid to share the behind the scenes of motherhood!

Larissa Winters – Australian politician

Although you may not have heard of Larissa, she made headlines around the world in 2015 when she became the first women to breastfeed during an Australian Parliament session. You go girl!

She said “I am so proud that my daughter Alia is the first baby to be breastfed in the Federal Parliament, Wwe need more women and parents in Parliament. And we need more family-friendly and flexible workplaces, and affordable childcare, for everyone.”

We’d love to hear your stories of the inspirational women in your life, whether they are breastfeeding or expressing, let’s celebrate International Women’s Day together! You can share your stories with our Medela Mums community on our Facebook and Instagram
