Introducing our Medela Breastfeeding Café Ambassadors

Our Breastfeeding Café, which we have been running on our Facebook page for the last 3 years with lactation consultant, Sioned has become extremely popular, with mums joining us every month to ask their breastfeeding questions and share their experiences.

We are more determined than ever to take this support to the next level and are thrilled to introduce a wonderful group of mums from across the UK who are helping us to take Medela’s Breastfeeding Café on the road.

September’s Breastfeeding Café 2015

We have recruited eight lovely mums to hold monthly cafes in major cities across the UK to discuss all things breastfeeding, from new tips they have learnt to the challenges they have faced. Who could ask for a better excuse for a cup of tea and slice of cake?

We are delighted to provide a little update this week on how just a few of our mums have got on with their first Medela Breastfeeding Cafés:

Gemma had a fantastic turn-out for her first café:

“Held my first breastfeeding café today it was epic. Discussed when is the best time to express, tips on pumping and funnel size. The ladies loved the Medela freebies, can’t wait for our next one!”

Lisa held her first Breastfeeding Café and met two lovely breastfeeding mummies in her local area:

“Having never spent time with any breastfeeding mothers before it was nice to be able to discuss things that my other friends don’t understand or can’t help with, being able to say “What do you do when….” and having another lady give you her thoughts really helps! Meeting other breastfeeding mums was brilliant I cannot wait to do it again, I left my first café feeling not only like I had met two wonderful ladies but that I had also learnt a few things, what more could I ask for?”

Christine held her first Café with some mums-to-be in her local area:

“Fabulous morning with some fabulous ladies, 3 expectant mummies went away with a different view on breastfeeding and another lady with great advice and greatly refreshed.”

Mo has held two Breastfeeding Cafes with local mums in a picnic setting which we think is a lovely idea for the summer months:

“I met up with some of my breastfeeding mummy friends at a park for a morning picnic. The sunshine, open space, and thriving bird life gave us a toddler-friendly environment to meet up for a chat about breastfeeding. We had a range of breastfeeding contexts and cultures between us. We found out that not all our own mums were keen on breastfeeding, and we reflected on the possible impact of this on our desire to breastfeed.

The breastfeeding sessions we attended pre-birth seemed to have played a significant role in how prepared we were for our breastfeeding journey. Our conversation once again highlighted how vital it is for mums to have the right breastfeeding support before and after birth.”
