Nuggets of Advice for a New Mum
Pregnancy is often one of the most exciting times in a person’s life. A time full of excitement and nerves for both parents as they prepare for the role of a lifetime. It is true that nothing can quite prepare you for this life change but it is true that we can all help each other. Thanks to our community of parents on social media, we’ve pulled together a few nuggets of advice other new parents were pleased to have received during their own pregnancy.
If in doubt, breastfeed!
Follow your baby's lead and if in doubt, breastfeed! Breastfeeding solves most issues apart from the obvious dirty nappies! – Sarah
Do not compare yourself
Do not compare yourself to any other parent, or compare your child to anyone else's. Everyone is different and everyone does things differently – Katie
Appreciate your time before baby arrives
The best advice I wish I’d had before my daughter is appreciate your time before baby arrives. Being able to go the cinema, a midweek meal out, just popping away for the day. All things you take for granted but are few and far between once baby arrives – Samantha
Take care of yourself
Simple. Your body is amazing, listen to what it's telling you. If you’re tired, sleep, if you’re hungry, eat, if you’re thirsty, drink. Take care of yourself as your body is growing a tiny miracle – Claire
Trust your Instincts
Trust your instincts and call for advice whenever you feel that something isn’t quite right
Go with the Flow
It may not all happen as you have planned, but go with it and enjoy!
Breathe
Breathe through birth, through hormonal ups and downs and those tricky early latches. Taking a moment to breathe and relax can really make a difference – Alice
Treasure Every Moment
Kids are little only for a short period! Enjoy all the cuddles, hugs and kisses every minute you get – Maria
